A bit of background
I never quite decided on what I wanted to do when I grew up and have had a few different and very varied roles. I took a break from my last job (auditing and process improvement) to have two beautiful daughters.
I have spent years creating; gifts for friends, drawing & doodling, knitting, jewellery making, arts & crafts with the kids, as well as shaping the look and style of our home and my wardrobe.
A friend was in need of a logo for her new business, I volunteered my creative skills and found I loved the entire process, from generating a concept to producing the finished artwork. I decided that I wanted to develop my design skills and enrolled on an Open University degree course in Design and Innovation. A couple of months later I heard that a charity was looking for applications for a voluntary designer / illustrator for a virtual team, I made a submission and they loved it. This was a great opportunity to not only gain experience but to help and promote a brilliant cause. I was suddenly part of a team, creating artwork for their social media and designing posters and I found that I was completely hooked.
I am about to start my third year of studying and am on the lookout for interesting opportunities and projects to work on to gain practical experience and add to my portfolio.
